My love for double denim is very potent at the moment, I can’t seem to get enough of it! Matching the shades and wearing pieces from different brands that go together well is so satisfying. I think when you wear double denim it’s obligatory to wear Dr Martens with them, that hint of rebellion and annoying the older generation that think you’re dressing ‘ridiculously’ makes it oh so tempting to dress like this all the time.
I remember the first time I wore double denim was on a non-uniform day in my second year of 6th form (college). I wore a Levi denim jacket with matching VERY short shorts, fish net tights and creepers… My teachers were horrified, which I thought was brilliant! I challenged so many of the school uniform rules whilst at school, so as soon as non-uniform day came around I was in my element. My double denim then was definitely a ‘look’ but not one I’ll be wearing again anytime soon (if ever!).
Luckily, I’ve come a long way since that outfit! My jacket here is from Selected and I’ve wanted it for ages, I’m so glad I was able to choose it as a gift. Paired with my favourite jeans from & Other Stories and the comfiest Dr Martens. When I posted these docs on my instagram I had so many questions, they’re soft leather which means you don’t have to break them in at all! Underneath I’m wearing a t-shirt from a new brand on my radar that I am so happy to support, Lucian. A sustainable and ethical London based brand, I’m wearing their L'Étranger T-Shirt.
I’d really recommend trying out double denim, it’s not as scary and ‘out there’ as it seems!
